A stylish brunch restaurant that had a sign reading “Brunch’n hard soon” on its facade for more than a year is finally open.

Sunday’s Best, at 505 S. Gale St. in Salt Lake City’s Post District, opened to the public Thursday morning, coinciding with Utah’s Pioneer Day holiday. By 9 a.m., the restaurant was fairly packed.

With its plush furniture, gold accents and tropical touches, the interior of Sunday’s Best is an Instagram-friendly paradise. The second floor is a rooftop Champagne and cocktail lounge called Sunday School, which was “thoughtfully designed to make you feel like you’re stepping into sunshine,” owner Michael McHenry said in a May news release.

Founding partner and executive chef Tyler Stokes said in the same release that “Sunday School is not going to be just another bar joining the thriving downtown scene, but a one-of-a-kind space focused on all things bubbles, beverages and unique bites.”

The food menu features classic dishes like buttermilk pancakes and biscuits & gravy, plus more creative items like the Funky Monkey, which is brioche French toast with bananas, Nutella, berries, whipped cream and roasted peanuts.

Sunday’s Best and Sunday School join several other food and drink businesses in the Post District, including Urban Hill, Level Crossing Brewing Company, Urban Sailor Coffee, Mensho Ramen, Dangerous Pretzel and Melancholy Wine & Cocktail Lounge.

Sunday’s Best has two other locations: in Sandy, at 10672 S. State St.; and inside Concourse B of the Salt Lake City International Airport.
