Calgary international airport
At Calgary International Airport, Hale Collective partnered with SSP to shape dining places that feel like part of the city, not just part of the terminal. Our multidisciplinary team brought architecture, interior design, and branding together under one roof. The result is a set of concepts with distinct personalities and one shared goal: to give travelers a real sense of place, whether they're arriving in Calgary or passing through.
From Wander Kitchen & Bar, developed with Chef Nicole Gomes, to the vibrant energy of Mi Casa Cantina, each space balances warmth and craft with what a high-volume airport demands. Every material, fixture, and layout decision was made to hold up to constant traffic, tight timelines, and complex airport approvals, without losing the character that makes a restaurant worth remembering.

WANDER Kitchen & bar by nicole gomes
Developed in collaboration with celebrity Chef Nicole Gomes, this warm and inviting restaurant brings a refined dining experience to Calgary International Airport. The interior balances hospitality and functionality through a carefully curated material palette of natural oak millwork, earthy green accents, and thoughtfully detailed architectural elements that create a cohesive visual identity throughout the space.
Layered lighting, intentional proportions, and a carefully orchestrated spatial composition establish a welcoming atmosphere that offers travelers a calm, elevated retreat from the energy of the terminal. Every design decision was made to reinforce a sense of comfort, warmth, and craftsmanship while supporting the operational demands of a high-traffic airport environment.
MI CASA CANTINA
Located in U.S. Departures at Calgary International Airport, Mi Casa Cantina brings the energy of a modern Mexican cantina to the terminal. The design celebrates the brand's festive spirit through saturated color, handcrafted textures, and a bar-centered layout that invites travelers to settle in for a margarita or a quick bite before their flight. A custom mural by artist Burgandy Viscosi anchors the space. It draws on Día de los Muertos tradition and adds local references, including a nod to Alberta's ranching country, so the Calgary location feels rooted in its city rather than repeated from somewhere else.
Warm lighting, layered finishes, and a mix of bar, high-top, and lounge seating create an atmosphere that is both lively and comfortable. Every element was designed to hold up to the demands of a high-volume airport while delivering an experience that feels authentic, welcoming, and unmistakably Mi Casa.
